MWC is going strong, with new gadgets announced regularly. Honor has unveiled its flagship Magic5 Pro smartphone. The device is filled to the brim with top-end hardware and boasts some unique features to boot.

Honor Magic5 Pro: Specifications

The Honor Magic5 Pro is a “proper” 2023 flagship smartphone in that it comes powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM, and 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage. However, currently, the device comes in only a 12/512GB variant.

The phone has a 10-bit LTPO panel with HDR10+ support and 1312 x 2848 pixel resolution. The panel also has a peak brightness of up to 1,800 nits and a refresh rate of 120Hz. Because of the LTPO panel, the refresh rate can be switched from 1Hz to 120Hz to conserve battery life.

The device has a 5,100mAh battery and supports 66W wired charging as well as 50W wireless charging. A 66W charger is also included along with the phone, which is rare in today’s flagships. It measures 6.81 inches.

Honor Magic5 Pro Has a Triple 50MP Camera Array

For the optics, the Magic5 Pro has a 50MP primary camera with a customized 1/1.12″ sensor and a 50MP periscope telephoto camera with Sony’s IMX858 sensor and up to 100X digital zoom capability. Finally, the phone has a 50MP ultrawide camera with a 122° field of view and an f/2.0 aperture.

The cameras are housed in a triangular setup, surrounded by a circular ring, that Honor refers to as the “Eye of Muse.”

Honor has used a 12MP lens housed in a pill-shaped notch with a 3D depth camera to provide more accurate and reliable face scans for facial unlock. The selfie camera has a 100° field of view, making it ideal for group shots.

Although the phone supports 4K at 60fps, an 8K mode, usually included in devices of this caliber, is strangely absent. Aside from that, you can shoot in a special Magic-Log format at 10-bit 4K at 60fps.

Honor Magic5 Pro Has Some Unique Features

The Honor Magic5 Pro comes with some intriguing features. For starters, it has a “Circadian Night Display,” which is said to improve sleep quality. There is an IMAX-branded app that can help with video editing on the phone, with no need for a computer.

Honor has included a custom Discrete Display Chipset that always renders the video in HDR10+ and can convert 30fps content to 60fps. Finally, the phone includes a custom security system developed in collaboration with Qualcomm to safeguard data and biometric information.

Honor Magic5 Pro: Price and Availability

The Honor Magic5 Pro will cost €1,200 (Rs.1,05,051) in its only variant – the 12/512GB model. The phone will be available in five colors: Black, Meadow Green, Glacier Blue, Coral Purple, and Orange.

The company has not specified a specific launch date, but it will arrive in the second quarter of 2023.
