Adidas Severs Ties with Kanye West amid Anti-Semitic Remarks

Rapper Kanye “Ye” West is facing criticism, including being dropped from business partnerships and advertisers, following a string of anti-Semitic comments earlier this month.

West came under fire after making several discriminatory remarks in interviews and on social media in recent weeks.

“I’m a bit sleepy tonight, but when I wake up, I’m going death con 3 On JEWISH PEOPLE,” West wrote on Oct. 8 in a now-deleted tweet.

“The funny thing is I actually can’t be anti-Semitic because black people are actually Jew,” he said. “[A]lso You guys have toyed with me and tried to blackball anyone whoever opposes your agenda,” he added.

During an interview with NewsNation’s Chris Cuomo last week, West claimed that he was being targeted by the “underground Jewish mafia.” He also said he does not believe a person can be anti-Semitic.

The rapper also made similar remarks during a guest appearance on the “Drink Champs” podcast.

Last week, West issued an apology on Piers Morgan’s talk show for his “death con” comment, claiming that he wrote it from a place of “hurt” as a victim of “trauma.”

Meanwhile, the Israel-based International Legal Forum (ILF) urged Adidas to terminate its relationship with West in a letter.

“Earlier this month, Kanye threatened to go ‘Death Con 3 on JEWISH PEOPLE,'” the letter states, according to Jewish News Syndicate. “He has since gone on an unhinged anti-Semitic tirade, including blaming ‘Jewish media’ for various grievances, saying ‘Jewish people have owned the black voice’ and that ‘the Jewish community, especially in the music industry, they’ll take us and milk us till we die.'”

According to ABC News, Adidas has severed its relationship with West and will no longer produce his Yeezy-branded products.

Further, on Monday, the Hollywood talent agency Creative Artists Agency (CAA) announced that it would no longer represent West. Film and television studio MRC also announced that it was shelving its documentary on the rapper, noting that it “cannot support any content that amplifies his platform.”

As reported by The Christian Post, West’s remarks also drew backlash from the Jewish community, including from the Daily Wire founder Ben Shapiro, an Orthodox jew.

Shapiro pushed back against West’s comments about anti-Semitism being used to allow people in the music industry to “get away with murder sometimes,” and comparing the music industry to “modern-day slavery.”

“It’s just pure unbridled anti-Semitism,” the conservative commentator said. “There’s just no other way to put it, there’s no other way to read it. End of story.”
