Sky News Senior Political Reporter Jonathan Lea says the new government is “open and eager” to re-engage with China.

Mr Lea said there is hope something will be able to happen to restore trade ties between China and Australia.

“We’re starting to see a thawing and a frosting of relationships,” he told Sky News Australia.

“We certainly know that the new government is very open and eager to re-engage with China.”
